On
Tuesday, June 14, 2011 Phyllis Kamps and Sherry Bumgardner
hosted their 1st Annual "Babes 4 Bags" Women's
Luncheon at Smokey's Lake Wohlford Cafe. In attendance
were, Barbara Knox, Krista Brown, Donna Marie Cruickshank,
Trish Womack, Melody Hawthorne, Mary Burdick, Mary Allison,
Carolyn Bose, Ronnie Root and daughter Josie.
Ms.
Root is the Program Director for St. Clare's Homes in Escondido.
She came and explained how Sister Clare started the organization
of St. Clare's Homes and the purpose of assisting women
with career choices, education, and a home for themselves
and their children. St. Claires's helps women in abused
situations get new lives and to better themselves and to
remove themselves from the abusive life.
Phyllis
and Sherry are planning on doing this on an annual basis
in June 2012.
There were many donations this year but Phyllis' hope is
to have more donations every year.
Donations
of women's clothes, children clothes and all necessary items
are appreciated. Many times when a woman leaves an abusive
situation, it is not planned and they have to leave their
homes with only the clothes on their backs.
